ReplyDeletelineage: at best M/1 (master was lost in a house fire), but unknown for this copy.
CAS(M/?) -> CD-R(4+) -> CD Wave (tracksplitting)-> FLAC
Notes:
This is by far the best-quality 1981 New Order audience recording, bar for
perhaps Walthamstow or Stockholm. Worth it to hear Bernard's singing on
Denial. And for the early version of Temptation, which is cut after about
10 minutes due to the master C90 running out.
It sounds like the tape copy this was taken from was encoded with Dolby B NR,
but I could be wrong about that. There's relatively little hiss. Nothing
has been done to this by me, though I figure it's a good candidate for an
eventual drewc sprucing-up.
This one had made a few way-stops through the NO trading community, but shows
little in the way of wear for it.
Oh, if anybody ever turns up a copy of the Reseda gig the night before...or
the Berkeley gig a few days after...as well as the City Gardens gig...please
share!
DO NOT SELL OR LEVERAGE THIS RECORDING FOR PROFIT.
DO NOT REDISTRIBUTE IN LOSSY FORMAT.
DO ENJOY.
This one has been around for years.
ReplyDeletegreat download just got it on now - well done
ReplyDeleteTurns out that this was seeded to DIME on 2005-06-27...by yours truly, I may add...an older nth-gen version was seeded to STG on 2004-07-09 or thereabouts by one "tumult".
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting the Perkins Palace gig. I am especially thankful since this was the first and only time I saw NO. I was a JD fan at the time and was also interested in NO. I still have a lot of my JD and NO vinyl, much of it courtesy of Poohbah's Records [also located in Pasadena]. This was not one of New Order's better nights - they were plagued by technical difficulties , And their frustration with the sound soon became our frustration. It was a bit disappointing to tell you the truth. Oh well...Thanks again for posting.

ReplyDeleteThere was no Reseda gig. I was a huge JD/NO fanatic (still am) and there is no way in Hell that I would not have been at a Reseda gig if it had happened. As it was I lived in the next town over from Pasadena so to go to this Perkins Palace gig was a hop skip and a jump from home! Still have my ticket stub as well ...
