After the one-off surprise gig at Utopia/Hal 4 in Rotterdam (1980-12-13), Dutch fans had to wait more than a year before they got another chance to see New Order, as the European tour of 1981 passed from France and Belgium to Scandinavia via a detour in Germany. In April 1982, the band made up for the delay with a 5-date trek across the country, kicking off in Rotterdam (again). This gig became known for the "Peter Hook Riot" that followed it, but you cannot tell from this very good audience recording: it just features the band's set, with no quotable quips and no encore (cope) but 40 minutes of tightly-performed music, the best of its kind at the time!

Taken directly from a low-gen tape borrowed from the cornucopia otherwise known as TJ's vault; no soundprocessing whatsoever was done, apart from normalization.

  2. I was at this concert and the reason for the mentioned riot was that there was no encore, as I recall. The crowd wanted more and when NO didn't reappear, people strated throwing glaases on the stage and at the instruments. Suddenly PH appeared with some roadies and people started to atrgue and fight. Sound in the venue was terrible by the way so I am suprised by this reasonable good recording.
