Rapidshare vs the others

At this site there is an ongoing discussion about Rapidshare.
And here is another posting from a little while back.
More interesting are the opinions of the visitors on whether they prefer using Rapidshare or other sites, above all Megaupload.

Do visitors here have any opinions? The Rapidshare account comes up for renewal at the start of next year: I would not especially rush to change, but if people feel Megaupload is a lot better and user-friendly, it would not kill me to transfer all the files to an account there.

So feel free to leave any comments!

  1. I think that Megaupload is better now. Rapidshare usually has a lot of users downloading files and slots are busy.

  2. I bought a month's account with Rapidshare, just to download some of your bootlegs. I thought it was good value for money. The downloads are much faster with an account.

  4. I also got a 1mth account just to get your backlog of gigs :-). R/S I found very poor without an account, very limited free slots. In a nutshell it is great _if_ you have an account. Not as much experience with Megaupload..

  5. Have you checked out Mediafire? The guys over at the New Order Recycle project use it. From the perspective of someone who doesn't pay for upload/download services, I find it easily the most user friendly, with no waiting for downloads to start.

  6. mediafire is the best way to go. the ease of use, and distinct lack of spam on the page make it a winner. great site, by the way.

  7. From the point of view of a free user, megaupload is easier, faster and allows you to download more per hour than rapidshare. Media fire seems to be the bee's knees. As stated on Quality bootz, rapidshare is not very commercial (can you say that in English?) the way they keep changing the rules. There might be a technical reason(?) At this rate they are going to loose all their customers!

  8. Up date!

The Power of independant Trucking seems to be having alot of problems with mediafire. Shame because they seemed fine!

  9. Rapidshare is great if you have an account. Without - err, quite bad, actually, and worse nowadays than it used to be. And Mediafire has become rather slow, too. I prefer Megaupload these days, to be honest.

  10. First, many thanks for all your posts. For the moment rapidshare is more difficult to use when you don't have an account. I find mediafire very good

  14. If you host at Rapidshare then users downloading gives you "Rapid Points" which give you, the hoster, free months to your account - no such perk with Mediafire or Megaupload. In my experience, RS is the de facto standard in file hosting.
