Delete`Joy Division Plan K 16 October 1979 is available at Guitars 101!!!
Are you not getting mixed up with another concert. According to JDC there are no recordings of this concert that has leaked. I also follow Guitars101 and have never seen it ...
DeleteI would gladly stand to be corrected 'tho'!
Was the something special pulled earlier (there's a trace of it on my Netvibes RSS reader!)?
Somebody keeps trying to block my Joy Division posts, but unsurprisingly refuses to reveal his issue with it.
DeleteWell well well......miracles never cease!
ReplyDeleteif only it was in lossless - and the eternal seems to be missing, sadly.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's this concert ! I'm pretty sure this was recorded in August 31th 2010 when the video of this gig was presented for the first time at the local theatre of Macclesfield. It was one of the last events of the Joy Division festival on Summer 2010, and I was there ! Jon Savage was hosting and he was telling us not to record the gig if we wanted to have a chance that Warner releases someday the video on DVD, along with an reissue of Here are the young men... (apparently, someone couldn't resist to bring his recorder with him :) But since then, two years passed and there is still nothing... He told us also that it wasn't released on 30 years because (if I understood well, I barely spoke English at the time) some excepts were mixed by the director with sequences of nazi propaganda, and since then, it remained a very sensitive issue amongst the band members. Oh, and before the presentation, they started by error to show us LWTUA (Ian with his Vox guitar...) Unfortunately, a power black-out happened in the middle or right after Shadowplay and they didn't succeed to repair it, after 10 minutes of forced pause. How frustrating !!! I couldn't wait for She's lost control ! Anyway, they were hands down the best live band of their time, so intense, as usual ! In my memories, the versions of New dawn fades and Colony were particularly heartbreaking. As well as Ian's eyes... :)
ReplyDeleteHi Camco, thanks very much for the info. You are right, the years pass.
ReplyDeleteBy the time all the involved people and egos are in agreement and ready to release such things, we will probably all be either in old people's homes or the cemetery...
So I stand (happily) corrected and the Guitars 101 search engine has a flaw too!!!
ReplyDeleteYes...took me a couple of attempts too...
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed ! -_- We are still waiting as well for the release of the Lost Sirens CD, which is delayed again and again ! And at this pace, it is very unlikely that the Malcom McLaren version of LWTUA will come out one day... More info about the event on Cerysmatic Factory : http://www.cerysmaticfactory.info/joy_division_exhibition_heritage_centre_macclesfield_july_august_2010.html
ReplyDeleteAlas, we are indeed kept waiting. Would donate a litre of blood to hear the whole of the Apollo concerts...
